This study aims to map out how civic integration ideas have spread in the Swedish party system between 2002 and 2018. Secondly, the objective is to investigate whether a potential ’civic turn’ affects the level of multicultural ideas within a political party. The study analyzes election manifestos from eight parties within the Swedish parliament between 2002 and 2018 and finds that civic integration ideas are represented in all parties except the Left- and the Green party. The ideas have increased over the time period, especially during the 2018 election and especially within the Liberal and Conservative parties. Moreover, the results did not clearly support that a 'civic turn’ in a party affected the level of multicultural ideas within the same party. However, some patterns were found, especially that parties that held civic integration ideas did not tend to hold multicultural ideas at the same time.
