Lärarens användning av film i undervisning / Teachers use of movies in education  :

The work covered in this essay is based on research in the areas of history, historical consciousness and use of history based movies in education. The purpose of this essay is to answer the question “ What does research tell us about the use of movies in education to develop a historical consciousness?”. One of the main goals for the school and the subject history is to get the students to develop a historical consciousness, but we wanted to search for different ways to reach that goal and what consequences it has. We have analyzed several theses such as doctoral theses and studies during our work with the essay. We discovered how  the students could feel through watching a movie with historical context and how education could benefit from that but also what types of risks it could deal with. Students could create a better historical consciousness if the right movie was provided to them. Also interesting results as the emotions they feel during the movies, as they put themselves in the perspectives of historical events and historical figures. But there were also other aspects of how the students could get lost in the movie and therefore miss the whole point of it. The conclusions that we could draw was that movies do have an impact far greater than we could believe, that students can put themselves in a different time and place and use that for our time being and the future, but it's not always guaranteed that they would do that and that is something you always have to keep in mind.
