The aim of this study is to investigate what a small group student teachers of English think of group work as a learning method. The survey was based on semi-structured interviews with eight student teachers of English. The result showed that the majority of these students believe that group work is a good learning method with many benefits, but it also has disadvantages. The benefits were the ability to work with fellow students and to take advantage of each other’s knowledge. The disadvantage that the majority of these students highlighted was that not everyone who participated in the group work contributed. The result also showed that the majority of these students developed their knowledge by working in groups. The conclusion of this study is that the majority of student teachers of English believe that group work is a good learning method with benefits but it also has disadvantages.
