Previous issue date: 2007 / ABSTRACT I: This text attempts to build a theoretical framework to discuss some aspects of gender-based violence against women and, more specifically, intrafarnily violence. It intends to articulate questions related to marital violence, human rights and education for peace. By criticizing patriarchal culture, seen as a culture of violence, it shows that gender stereotypes are an obstacle to the promotion of the human rights of women. Moreover, the text presents theoretical references that point to the importance of professional actions that aim at stimulating the empowerment of men and women facing situations of violence. ABSTRACT II: This article aims at exploring and describing how professionals who assist women victims of marital violence will interact with them, interpreting their situation, and how they will respond to these women. The main technical focus of this qualitative study is: Psychology, Social Services, Medicine, Civilian Law Enforcement, Nursing and Law, based on a total of six interviews. The techniques chosen for the collection and treatment of data were the narrative interview and speech analysis, and how theory was used in gender study. After the interviews, four central aspects to be explored in the narratives were pointed out. First of all, we looked finto the perceptions which professionals Nave about marital violence, how they see it, and how they explain the dynamics, which generate Qender violence. Secondly, what the narratives show about their practices, from the identification to the action in those cases where they need to assist women who were victims of violence. Thirdly, we analyzed the difficulty to act when facing these problems, the general characterization of this practice, having in view institutional work, and the articulations between the several services, which are configured finto a net, which may be suitable or not. Finally, we discuss the concerns related to the prevention of this phenomenon, and, the responsibilities that professionals and services have ascribed to themselves. / Resumo I - Este texto procura traçar um quadro teórico, no qual serão articuladas questões relacionado a violência conjugal e as implicações na assistência e tratamento que a sociedade vem dando a este grave problema. Através de uma crítica à cultura patrialcal, vista como uma cultura de violência, reconhece que os estereótipos de gênero são um empecilio à promoção dos direitos humanos dos das mulheres. Por outro lado, apresenta a importância de ações profissionais que visem estimular o empoderamento de mulheres que vivem situações de violencia. Resumo II - O presente artigo tem por objetivo explorar e descrever como os(as) profissionais que atendem mulheres vítimas de violência conjugal vão interagir com as vítimas, interpretar o que ocorre e como vão responder a essas pessoas. As áreas técnicas privilegiadas nesse estudo qualitativo são a Psicologia, o Serviço Social, a Medicina, a Polícia Civil, a Enfermagem e o Direito, totalizando seis entrevistas. Escolhemos, como técnicas para a coleta e tratamento dos dados, a entrevista narrativa e a análise do discurso e como referenciais teóricos foram utilizados os estudos de gênero. Delineamos quatro aspectos centrais a serem explorados nas narrativas, inicialmente as percepções que os(as) profissionais têm sobre a violência conjugal, como vêem e explicam as dinâmicas que geram a violência de gênero; em segundo lugar, o que mostram as narrativas sobre suas práticas, desde a identificação até a atuação nos casos de atendimento a mulheres em situações de violência; em terceiro lugar as dificuldades para atuar diante desse problema, a caracterização geral dessas práticas, tendo em vista o trabalho institucional e a articulação entre os vários serviços que se configuraram em uma rede, adequada ou não. E, finalmente, a preocupação com a prevenção desse fenômeno, e as responsabilidades que os (as) profissionais e os serviços se atribuíram.
