Previous issue date: 2018-02-02 / Organizations are constantly seeking to improve its decision-making processes and obtaining a competitive advantage. The Information Systems (IS) has been shown to be increasingly relevant in the management of information. These systems can assist in knowledge management, which is closely linked to the Organizational Memory (OM) and the Competitive Intelligence (CI). OM can give the Organization the ability to maintain the knowledge and CI can help maintaining or enhancing the competitiveness of organizations, and the understanding of the competitor. The CI is a systematic process and has a cycle, which consists of five main steps (planning, information processing, collection, analysis and production and dissemination). CI has as a goal the better decision making on the part of the organization. Both OM as the CI are foundations of decision-making and the management of knowledge. However, exists a lack of deepening existing relationships between these variables. To better understand this issue, we made a literature review of Organizational Memory (OM), Competitive Intelligence (CI) and information systems (IS), with the intention to identify the structures and functions of OM and phases of the Intelligence Competitive Cycle that are supported by the IS. In the research, we used descriptive, qualitative method, with the help of interviews and a structured script for data collection. As technical analysis, we adopted content analysis suggested by Bardin (2011). The results indicated that the management of Organizational Memory is a relevant theme, and the companies take care in making its maintenance. The companies indicated that the cycle of competitive intelligence is quite appropriate and use the Organizational Memory when seeking for information present in the databases and their information systems, i.e., at the stage of processing of the information, where the information already present in organizations are used in CI. We also noted that there are companies that still do not have the custom of recent information about the competitors, and use those that are present in memory to make decisions, that is, in some situations; companies do not find the information they need, and they rely on their Organizational Memory. / As organizações estão constantemente buscando melhorar seus processos de tomada de decisão e obtenção de vantagem competitiva. Os Sistemas de Informação (SI) têm se mostrado cada vez mais relevantes na gestão de informações. Estes sistemas podem ajudar na gestão do conhecimento, que está intimamente ligada à Memória das Organizações (MO) e a Inteligência Competitiva (IC). A MO pode conferir à organização a capacidade de manutenção do conhecimento, já a IC pode ajudar na manutenção ou aumento da competitividade das organizações, e o entendimento do concorrente. A IC é um processo sistemático, e por isso possui um ciclo, que consiste em cinco etapas principais (planejamento, processamento de informação, coleta, análise e produção e disseminação). Ela tem como objetivo a melhor tomada de decisão por parte da organização. Tanto a MO como a IC são alicerces da tomada de decisão e da gestão do conhecimento, no entanto falta maior aprofundamento nas relações existentes entre essas variáveis. Para entender melhor esta questão efetuou-se uma revisão de literatura de Memória Organizacional (MO), Inteligência Competitiva (IC) e Sistemas de Informação (SI), com a intenção de identificar as estruturas e funções da MO e as fases do Ciclo de Inteligência Competitiva que são apoiadas pelos SI. Para a pesquisa foi utilizado o método qualitativo descritivo, com o auxílio de entrevistas com roteiro estruturado para a coleta de dados. Como técnica de análise, utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo sugerida por Bardin (2011). Os resultados indicaram que a gestão da Memória Organizacional é um tema relevante, e as empresas participantes da pesquisa demonstraram que se preocupam em viabilizar a sua manutenção. As empresas indicaram que o ciclo de Inteligência Competitiva é bastante adequado e utilizam a Memória Organizacional quando buscam por informações presentes nos seus bancos de dados e nos Sistemas de Informação que utilizam, ou seja, na fase de do processamento das informações, em que as informações já presentes nas organizações são utilizadas no ciclo de IC. Constatou-se que existem empresas que ainda não têm o costume de buscar informações recentes sobre a concorrência, e se utilizam daquelas que estão presentes na memória para tomar decisões, isto é, em algumas situações, as empresas não encontram as informações necessárias e acabam se apoiando em sua Memória Organizacional.
