implementera arbetet ute i organisationen.

Nyckelord: Kommunikation, Public Relations, marknadskommunikation, konvergensmodellen, integrerad

kommunikation, synergi, identitet, organisationskultur, varumärke, varumärkesplan, Return of

Investement, Return on Communications, integrerat varumärke.
/
This study investigates how integrated communication is defined in theory, in comparison to how those

that claim to work with the concept define and make use of the term. It further highlights the barriers that

stands in front of an implementation of the term, as well as the possibilities of overcoming these barriers.

The purpose of the study is to increase the understanding of the concept, and how it can be used to its full

potential.

Consultants from the leading PR agencies in Stockholm was interviewed for this purpose and as a foundation

for the discussion lies also an thorough presentation of the theory behind integrated communication.

The results show that integrated communication in practice is used on an abstract rather than concrete

level, and that the barriers that stand in front of a concrete implementation can be concluded within four

categories: territory, business economical system, measurability and new media. The study also shows how

these barriers can be turned into possibilities to make integrated communications work better.

The conclusion is that in order to conform theory according to the presumptions of reality, an thus make a

practical application of the theory possible, one should use the term integrated brand instead of integrated

communications. This change of term should simplify the process of establishing the integrated perspective

on board level and then the implementation of the concept throughout the organization.

Key terms: Communication, Public Relations, Market Communication, the Model of Convergence, Integrated

Communication, synergy, identity, organizational culture, brand, brand plan, Return of Investment,

Return on Communications, integrated brand.
