Previous issue date: 2006 / Embora haja em âmbito internacional um número considerável de publicações sobre o uso de dicionários, quase não encontramos registros de pesquisas que relatem a relação entre dicionário bilíngüe e produção escrita. O objetivo geral deste trabalho foi verificar os motivos que levam a falhas na escolha de informações extraídas de dicionários bilíngües, por 80
alunos brasileiros, ao redigirem um texto em alemão como língua estrangeira com cerca de 100 palavras. Os resultados mostraram que a maioria das falhas ocorreu na escolha de equivalentes e que existe uma relação entre essas falhas e a estrutura dos dicionários utilizados, que não trazem equivalentes suficientes, nem elementos para que o usuário possa fazer escolhas acertadas. Por outro lado, os alunos não compreendem ou ignoram as informações presentes nos dicionários, sobretudo os elementos diferenciadores. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Although there is a considerable amount of publications about dictionary management, it
is hard to find articles about the relationship between writing and the use of a bilingual dictionary. The purpose of this study was to verify the reasons that lead to unsuccessful lookups in bilingual dictionaries. Subjects were eighty Brazilian students who wrote a text in
German (as foreign language), about one hundred words length. The most unsuccessful consults occurred in the choice of the "equivalents". There was a link between
this failure and some structural features of the dictionaries – like a lack of appropriate equivalents and few information given - that didn't allow the students to make the right choices. On the other hand, subjects tended not to understand or to ignore some informations in the dictionaries, specially the "discriminators". _________________________________________________________________________ ZUSAMMENFASSUNG / Obwohl es im internationalen Rahmen eine große Zahl von Publikationen über Wörterbuchbenutzung gibt, finden sich fast keine Forschungsergebnisse, die sich mit dem
Zusammenhang zwischen zweisprachigem Wörterbuch und schriftlicher Produktion
beschäftigen. Die allgemeine Zielsetzung dieser Arbeit war, anhand von Texten auf Deutsch von 80 brasilianischen Kursteilnehmern im Umfang von je ca. 100 Wörtern die Gründe für den Misserfolg beim Suchen von Informationen in zweisprachigen Wörterbüchern festzustellen. Die Ergebnisse zeigten, dass die Mehrheit von Fehlern bei der Wahl von Äquivalenten auftrat und dass ein Zusammenhang zwischen diesen Fehlern und der Mikrostruktur der gebrauchten Wörterbücher besteht. Einerseits enthalten die Wörterbücher nicht genügend Äquivalenten oder Informationen, die dem Benutzer die richtige Wahl ermöglichen. Anderseits übersehen die Kursteilnehmer Angaben in Wörterbüchern oder verstehen sie nicht, vor allem „die differenzierenden Angaben“.
