Influence of EU development grants upon the economic performance of SMEs in the South Moravian region

This thesis examines the influence of EU development grants upon economic performance of SMEs in the South Moravian region. Data concerning the economic performance of a sample of ten chosen companies in years 2006-2011 was obtained from the Business registry. The economic performance of chosen SMEs was identified using performance indicators such as vertical analysis, horizontal analysis and ratios and consequently EVA spread and EVA were calculated. The results of the companies were compared with the manufacturing industry. Data concerning the economic performance of the manufacturing industry were obtained from the web pages of the Ministry of industry and trade. Differences in the companies' performance due to the grant were identified using the F-test and T-test. Also Fish-er's test was used to examine connection between different factors concerning the quantitative results as well as the qualitative results obtained from a survey. The index method was used to identify significant factors influencing the yearly changes of ROE.
