El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo medir el nivel de progreso
social del distrito de Jesús María utilizando el Índice de Progreso Social como metodología
propuesta por el Social Progress Imperative. Para ello, se considera la situación del distrito en
un momento determinado y se analizan las tres dimensiones establecidas por el modelo:
Necesidades Básicas Humanas, Fundamentos del Bienestar y Oportunidades, y sus
respectivos componentes. El tipo de investigación es de tipo cuantitativa y descriptiva, con un
diseño transaccional no experimental, en donde la información de base, como método de
recolección primaria de datos, fue obtenida a partir del desarrollo de encuestas a una muestra
de la población del distrito por medio de un cuestionario proporcionado por CENTRUM
PUCP Graduate Business School. El tamaño de muestra con el cual se obtuvieron los
resultados del Índice de Progreso Social fue de 468 jefes de hogar, los cuales fueron
entrevistados considerando las cinco zonas identificadas en el distrito para el presente
estudio.
Los resultados obtenidos en el distrito de Jesús María arrojaron un puntaje de 78.84,
clasificándolo con un nivel de progreso social “Alto” para el año 2018. Se observa
claramente que la dimensión de Necesidades Básicas Humanas alcanza los mayores valores
de progreso social dentro del distrito, con un valor de 90.87, con una clasificación de
progreso social de “Muy Alto”, evidenciando de esta manera que la población del distrito
cubre satisfactoriamente sus necesidades humanas básicas. Además, la dimensión
Fundamentos de Bienestar, alcanza un valor de 75.08, con una clasificación de progreso
social “Alto”, lo que demuestra que la población tiene los elementos necesarios para
aumentar y mantener su bienestar. Por último, la dimensión de Oportunidades alcanza un valor
de 70.56, con una clasificación de progreso social “Medio Alto”, lo que demuestra que si bien existen oportunidades para que todas las personas puedan lograr su pleno potencial, se presentan
algunas limitaciones para alcanzar el mismo.
Al ser la primera vez que este tipo de estudios se realiza en el distrito de Jesús María,
la misma constituye una herramienta de análisis que permite identificar fortalezas y
debilidades a efectos de que sean consideradas en la toma de decisiones y en el desarrollo de
estrategias y objetivos de gestión para la municipalidad, empresas públicas y privadas, con la
finalidad de mejorar la calidad de vida y el bienestar de los pobladores del distrito. / The objective of this research is to measure the level of social progress in the Jesús
María district using the Social Progress Index as a methodology proposed by the Social
Progress Imperative. For this, the situation of the district at a given moment is considered and
the three dimensions established by the model are analyzed: Basic Human Needs,
Foundations of Wellbeing and Opportunities, and their respective components. The type of
research is quantitative and descriptive, with a non-experimental transactional design, where
the basic information, as a method of primary data collection, was obtained from the
development of surveys to a sample of the district's population with a questionnaire provided
by CENTRUM PUCP Graduate Business School. The sample size with which the results of
the Social Progress Index were obtained was 468 heads of household, who were interviewed
considering the five zones identified in the district for the present research.
The results obtained in the district of Jesus Maria yielded a score of 78.84, classifying
it with a level of social progress "High" for the year 2018. It is clearly observed that the
dimension of Human Basic Needs reaches the highest values of social progress within the
district, with a value of 90.87, with a classification of social progress of "Very High",
evidencing in this way that the population of the district satisfactorily covers their basic
human needs. In addition, the Foundations of Wellbeing dimension reaches a value of 75.08,
with a classification of "High" social progress, which shows that the population has the
necessary elements to increase and maintain their well-being. Finally, the Opportuny
dimension reaches a value of 70.56, with a classification of " Medium High", which shows
that while there are opportunities for all people to achieve their full potential, there are some
limitations to achieve it.
This is the first time that this type of research has been carried out in the district of
Jesús María, it is an analysis tool that allows identifying strengths and weaknesses in order to be considered in decision-making and in the development of strategies and management
objectives for the municipality, public and private companies, with the aim of improving the
quality of life and the well-being of the inhabitants of the district.
