Previous issue date: 2008-05-14 / O presente estudo expõe e debate a teoria cognitivista da metáfora conceptual, inclusive em
sua mais recente versão, a Teoria Neural da Metáfora. O estudo acolhe críticas a estas teorias
mostrando, através de uma pesquisa de corpus, que as metáforas conceptuais para o Amor
sujeitam-se à diferenciação em gêneros textuais e lexicalizam-se considerando fatores
culturais e discursivos contextualmente relevantes. / This study states and debates the cognitivist theory of conceptual metaphors, included its
latest version – The Neural Theory of Metaphors. The present research accepts some of the
criticisms directed to the theory of conceptual metaphor by showing that the distribution of
the metaphors for Love, in the corpus under consideration, is sensitive to the kind of discourse
that uses them; furthermore, the lexicalization of the metaphors is also sensitive to cultural
factors, contextually relevant.
