The latests events point out to the importance of migration and call for quick and effective reforms of various policies affecting this area. Migration and it's effects are therefore becoming subject of many studies in the recent years. The dissertation thesis looks for the impacts of immigration from third countries on the European Union labour market. It first establishes the theoretical possible impacts of imigration on host markets, afterwards it opens the discusison, whether the EU labour market can be truly perceived as a common, homogenous area. In it's second part the disertation thesis seeks the main features of work immigration in the EU, evaluates and compares the economic position of immigrants and domestic workers. The final chapter look for the impacts of immigration from third countries on unemployment rates and wages of domestic workers. The results of the author's calculations, as well as other similar studies, indicate that these impact are rather low.
