An investigation of streptobacillus moniliformis and its pleuropneumonia-like L-1 variant

Investigations into some of the cultural, morphological, and biochemical characteristics of a strain of Streptobacillus moniliformis and its pleuropneumonia-like L-1 variant are described. Experiments on the virulence and pathogenesis of these organisms indicated that virulence of the strain had been lost and could not be regained by the methods used. Gross-agglutination and cross-absorption tests demonstrated satisfactorily that Streptobacillus moniliformis and the L-1 variant are antigenically related. / Science, Faculty of / Microbiology and Immunology, Department of / Graduate
