A new static vapour-liquid equilibrium apparatus has been designed and constructed. The data of the system n-heptane-n-propanol-1-chlorobutane and its component binaries have been measured at 298.15 K. / Guggenheim's expression for the combinatorial entropy of mixtures has been extended to include molecules of any size and shape. This expression has been used to derive two new local-composition models for the Gibbs free energy of real mixtures. These models contain only binary interaction parameters and can accommodate liquid phase instability. Techniques are presented for the calculation of the required pure-component structural parameters. / Methods have been derived for the reduction of binary and ternary bubble-pressure data by the numerical integration of the Gibbs-Duhem equation.
