Penicillin epilepsy: studies on the blood brain barrier during cardiopulmonary bypass.

Early in 1965, a series of patients underwent cardiopulmonary bypass for valve replacement (table 1). Prior to this time, there had been no undue incidence of cerebral complications associated with this procedure.
