The goal of diploma thesis is to evaluate small and medium-sized enterprises from the perspective of regional development. The first part describes basic terms related to this issue. The following part deals with the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises in therms of regional development theories and their evolution in the context of main economic theories. The third part focuses on the share of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech economy and the district of Břeclav. This chapter also contains a questionnaire survey focused on the district of Břeclav. The goal of this survey was to determine the attitude of municipal representatives towards this issue.
