The purpose of this study is to contribute to an increased understanding of how teachers perceive and work with students’ motivation for reading in different areas with varying socioeconomic status. The data was collected through semistructured interviews with ten practicing teachers in grades 1-3. The results revealed differences in students’ motivation for reading depending on the socioeconomic area in which their school was located. Furthermore, differences in teachers’ approaches emerged, indicating that teachers implement varying degrees of activities and adaptions depending on the socioeconomic area in which they operate.
