Conocer si una sociedad es capaz de satisfacer las necesidades básicas humanas
fundamentales, establecer cimientos para mantener y mejorar la calidad de vida, y crear
condiciones para que todos sus ciudadanos alcancen su máximo potencial, ha llevado al
Social Progress Imperative a diseñar el Índice de Progreso Social. La presente investigación
tiene por objetivo calcular el nivel de Progreso Social para el distrito de Pachacámac y sus
tres zonas, realizada bajo la metodología del Social Progress Imperative, la cual establece
una forma holística y rigurosa de medir el desempeño tanto social como ambiental,
permitiendo identificar las fortalezas y debilidades en el distrito, para lo cual se utilizaron tres
dimensiones, cada una de ellas tiene cuatro componentes y un total de 50 indicadores, a
través de los cuales se calculó un índice entre 0 y 100.
El estudio a continuación permite conocer por primera vez el Índice de Progreso
Social para el distrito de Pachacámac, el cual se realizó durante el mes de noviembre 2018,
mediante 393 encuestas realizadas a jefes de hogar distribuidos en forma equitativa en cada
una de las tres zonas, obteniendo un puntaje total de 52.91 clasificándolo en un nivel de
progreso Bajo, el resultado para la zona 1 fue de 55.91, siendo clasificado con nivel Medio
Bajo, la zona 2 con 51.37 clasificándolo con un nivel de Bajo y por último la zona 3 obtuvo
51.44 con un nivel de progreso Bajo.
Los resultados por dimensiones para el distrito de Pachacámac se presentan a
continuación: Necesidades Humanas Básicas con 66.88 con un nivel Medio Alto,
Fundamentos de Bienestar con 44.62 alcanzando un nivel de progreso Bajo y por último la
dimensión Oportunidades con un puntaje de 47.58, es importante resaltar que el indicador
Acceso a Educación Superior fue el que obtuvo el resultado más bajo 6.85, con un nivel de
Extremo Bajo. Estos resultados serán la base de comparación para investigaciones futuras. / The Social Progress Imperative designed the Social Progress Index in order to
demonstrate if a society is capable of satisfying basic human needs, establish
foundations to maintain and improve the quality of life of its members, and create the right
conditions for all its citizens to reach their maximum potential. The objective of this research
is to measure the level of Social Progress for the district of Pachacamac and its three areas.
Carried out under the methodology of the Social Progress Imperative, which establishes a
holistic and rigorous way of measuring both social and environmental performance, this
study allows us to identify strengths and weaknesses in the district. Three dimensions were
used; each of them has four components and 50 indicators, through which an index between 0
and 100 was measured.
The study below allows us to measure for the first time the Social Progress Index for
the district of Pachacamac, conducted on November 2018, through 393 surveys made to
heads of households distributed equally in each of the three areas. An overall score of 52.91
classifies Pachacamac as Low level of progress. The score for zone 1 was 55.91, being
classified as Low Middle level of progress. Zone 2 with 51.37 has a Low level of progress.
Finally, zone 3 obtained 51.44 with a Low level of progress.
The results by dimensions for the district of Pachacamac were presented below Basic
Human Needs with 66.88 with a High Medium level, Fundamentals of Wellbeing with 44.62
reaching a Low level of progress, and finally the Opportunities dimension with a score of
47.58 also a Low level of progress. It is important to mention that the indicator for Access to
Higher Education obtained the lowest score, 6.85, with a Low End level. These results will be
the basis of comparison for future research.
