FundaÃÃo Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e TecnolÃgico / A cidade revela a presenÃa de uma infinidade de paisagens, percebidas e vividas de modos distintos por seus habitantes. Partindo desse pressuposto, a pesquisa geogrÃfica que se segue visa analisar diferentes formas de representaÃÃo da paisagem urbana. Como Ãrea espacial de investigaÃÃo, prestamos anÃlises centradas na Cidade de Sobral, localizada na porÃÃo Noroeste do Estado do CearÃ. Perpassando pelos fatos que levaram a constituiÃÃo de sua Paisagem (do SÃculo XVIII atà o final do SÃculo XX), Sobral à assim analisada inicialmente por uma perspectiva geo-histÃrica, que assinala o carÃter singular de sua formaÃÃo urbana dentro do contexto espacial sertanejo. Posteriormente discute-se a sua condiÃÃo de âcidade imaginadaâ, pensada por determinados grupos sociais que oportunizaram a revelaÃÃo de suas paisagens como suporte a (re)criaÃÃo e a transmissÃo de imagens da cidade vinculadas aos aspectos da tradiÃÃo e de modernidade, simultaneamente. Metodologicamente falando, o trabalho compreende a utilizaÃÃo de uma expressa revisÃo bibliogrÃfica acerca dos principais temas discutidos, bem como a realizaÃÃo de visitas e observaÃÃes de campo e, aplicaÃÃo e anÃlise de entrevistas. No que concerne ao tratamento com as percepÃÃes averiguadas, a pesquisa efetiva-se por fundamentos qualitativos, seguindo direÃÃes de uma renovada Geografia Cultural, conduzida numa perspectiva humanista. Desta forma, o conhecimento dessas representaÃÃes faz com que se reconheÃa a Paisagem Urbana da Cidade de Sobral como um campo simbÃlico de primeira ordem, influente nas percepÃÃes e vivÃncias de seus habitantes. / The city reveals the presence of a variety of landscapes, perceived and experienced in different ways by its inhabitants. Based on this assumption, the geographic research below aims to analyze different forms of representation of the urban landscape. As an area of space research, we provide analysis focused on the city of Sobral, located in the northwest of the State of CearÃ. By passing the facts which lead to formation of its Scenery (eighteenth century until the end of the twentieth century), Sobral is thus initially analyzed by a geo-historical perspective, portraying the unique character of its urban formation within the spatial context of inlander. Later we discuss their status as "imagined city", thought by some social groups that nurture the development of his landscapes to support the (re) creation and transmission of images of the city linked to aspects of tradition and modernity at the same time. Methodologically speaking, the work includes the use of an explicit literature on the main topics discussed, as well as by means of visits and field observations and analysis of application and interviews. With regard to treatment with perceptions investigated, the research is effective by a qualitative basis, following directions for a renewed Cultural Geography, conducted a humanistic perspective. Thus, knowledge of these representations makes the recognition of the urban landscape of the city of Sobral as a symbolic field of the first order, influential in the perceptions and experiences of its inhabitants.
