This is a book-length thesis project of poems grappling with themes of love, loss, and longing. The poems are based mostly in New Delhi or Indiana, but occasionally travel to other parts of either of the two countries. The poems are interested in the ways in which we treat the land we inhabit, question belonging and birthright, and are susceptible to the projections of violence these questions and claims demand. The poems feature beloveds, romantic or otherwise, characters from the speaker’s family, and casual acquaintances. This is a book-length project of poems of a life lived, a life loved, and a life still learning from the hubris of human love.
