Previous issue date: 2015-10-09 / The proposed research aims to discuss the financing prospects of library space in the operative diversity of modernity. The research is qualitative, though , can provide quantitative data that will serve as input for data evaluation. The space for the generation of inferences of the research process will be the Central Library of the Federal University of Pernambuco, located in the city of Recife – PE. Contemporary thought seems to guide new " formats " to think the library , especially when it comes to meeting the needs of their immediate users ( students and teachers) and the general community. In this study will be pointed out the library missions, considered the historical background of its constitution and the current state , facing the requirements of postmodernity . The research will include performing data collection through an extensive review and consultation to official documents. We will be based on the theoretical considerations of Milanesi (2002) and Cunha (2010 ) . From the reference material can undertake analysis and identification ofproblems and, in such a case, we can mark out for the inset of discourse analysis, for than move to the guiding principle of systematic operation could be raised in the case of possible future action to be library, in addition to history and memory space also a place of inclusive services and pleasurable actions. / A presente proposta de pesquisa tem como objetivo discutir sobre as perspectivas de funcionamento do espaço da biblioteca na diversidade operativa da modernidade. A pesquisa é de caráter qualitativo, muito embora, possa apresentar dados quantitativos que servirão de subsídios para avaliação de dados. O espaço para a geração de inferências do processo de investigação será a Biblioteca Central da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, situada no município do Recife – PE. O pensamento contemporâneo parece orientar novos “formatos” para pensar a biblioteca, especialmente no que se refere ao atendimento das necessidades dos seus usuários imediatos (alunos e professores) e comunidade em geral. Neste estudo serão apontadas as missões da biblioteca, considerados o percurso histórico de sua constituição e o estado atual, frente às exigências da pós-modernidade. A pesquisa contemplará a realização de coleta de dados através de revisão bibliográfica e consulta a documentos oficiais. Estaremos nos baseando nas considerações teóricas de Milanesi (2002) e Cunha (2010). A partir do material de referência e, em tal caso, poderemos nos balizar pelos entremeios da Análise do Discurso, para empreender análises e identificação de problemas para, então, passarmos ao princípio norteador da sistemática de operação que poderá ser proposta, em se tratando de possíveis ações futuras, para a biblioteca ser, além do espaço de história e memória, igualmente um lugar de serviços includentes e ações prazerosas.
