Further studies on the hydrothermal stability of quartz

Quartz and quartzite are subjected to moderate confining pressures and compressive stresses in water and alkaline media. Planes of liquid inclusions in quartz are not affected nor is quartz recrystallized under the experimental conditions imposed. Calculations of the pressure unit's limitations are made, and modifications for its future use are suggested. A complete analysis of sodium disilicate, produced in the experiments, is presented. / Science, Faculty of / Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Department of / Graduate
