Previous issue date: 2017-03-16 / We exist as a body and, therefore, as health. Thus, the way of existing is written ineroxably in the health??s body. The heterogeneity of occurences that may modify the quality of health incites to research how people take over the responsability with the theme. One can not believe in a total gratuitousness of nature so that health can be verified. It is necessary a responsible position, coherent, updated and daily kept. The goal was to study the responsability towards health, in a group of women, through the perspective of Social Representations and establish an articulation with biological markers from thyroid gland and pancreas. The research has a qualitative as well as quantitative, transversal and descriptive character traits. The researched group was composed by 25 women who attended to a Private Practice of Dermatology and Nutrition located in Brasilia for a doctor's appointment in those fields. An interview comprehending issues related to the health theme was used for the data collection, besides the serum level of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and insulin. The data was analyzed with assistance from the instrumental Iramuteq software (Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires). The identified Social Representations in Health were analized regarding 3 identification variables: (age, marital status and schooling). The Social Representations of health from all the researched group were organized in 5 categories: a) physical activity in health promotion, emphasizing the necessity of diligence in sports' practicing; b) work modifying health, with distinction to the commitment of improving the conditions of the labour environment; c) interpersonal relationships and leisure, in favour of the responsability to the relationships, even in relaxing moments, since they can also interfere in health; d) body esthetics which highlights the beauty of the body as one of the components of health; e) nutrition care, emphasizing that one can not do without the attention to the nutritive power of food, although with parsimony when it comes to the quantity intake. Social Representations and the characterization variables of biological markers have been analyzed. It was certified that Social Representations in articulation with the measured values of TSH ranged the prominence from nutrition habits, sportive practice and the care of the labour environment to the idea that obesity, smoking and working insatisfaction are part of a vicious cycle harmful to health. In articulation with the dosage insulin values, the Social Representations varied from the balance need in the many dimensions of life to the confirming evidence that stress is a potential noxious state towards health. The research brought to light multiple perspectives of thinking and being responsible to health, besides a diversity of expressions and ways of acting in order to be well. / Existimos como corpo e, portanto, como sa??de.
