Performance variation of a helicopter turboprop with respect to manufacturing tolerances

This paper focuses on the performance dispersion of the turboprop Turbomeca Arriel2D. The first part describes the engine architecture and the different aerodynamic parameters which affect the performance characteristics. Then an inventory of the most important tolerances with respect to engine performance is taken. The second part describes why and how a new model of the turboprop has been created to evaluate the degradation. Finally, the results obtained with a Monte-Carlo Method are close to the empirical methods and give several hints in order to improve the manufacturing tolerances.
