Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: Divulgado como um centro de representação de 'tradições¿ camponesas e escravas, o bairro rural do Quilombo é considerado uma das atrações turísticas do município de São Bento do Sapucaí, no estado de São Paulo. Incluído nos projetos de consolidação do Turismo como atividade econômica privilegiada do município, o bairro se constrói, enquanto palco destas tradições, através da ação efetiva de moradores locais e de agentes culturais da região. Acompanhando as ações de alguns destes moradores do bairro e de agentes culturais do município, desvendamos o entrelaçamento e os embates entre projetos de reorganização econômica regional e as expectativas e projetos locais. Assim, esta dissertação procura mostrar o papel desempenhado pelos grupos locais nos processos de re-ordenação econômica e de transformação da identidade local que atingem este, assim como tantos outros pequenos municípios do estado e do país através do turismo / Abstract: The rural village of Quilombo is considered one of the turistic attractions of São Bento do Sapucaí, in São Paulo State, and have been publicized as a representative place of peasentry and slavery ¿traditions¿. Included in the projects of consolidation of the turism as an important economic activity of the municipal district, the village build itself ¿ in the sense of those traditions ¿ through the efective action of local dwellers and of cultural agents from the region. Following the action of some of those village dwellers or some of the cultural agents from the town, we can unveil the interactions and the struggles between these regional economic projects and the projects and expectations of the local population themselve. This dissertation aims to investigate the role played by local groups on the processes of economical reorganization as much as on the transformations of local identity. Such changes reach not only this village and its county but many of other small counties in this state and even in the coutry, due to the touristic activity / Mestrado / Mestre em Antropologia Social
