With life expactancy continuing to rise, more and more clients of social services are seniors. The quality od the care provided is closely associated with professional and pleasant staff attitude to clients. Senior social care is a highly demanding job for all workers taking care of clients´ well-being. This thesis is focused on working conditions in senior services facilities and their impact on staff job performance which affects directly clients´ perception of the care. The study was carried out in various facilities of the Pilsen region provided social services to seniors, e.g. senior homes, daily stationaries, day care centers, personal assistance, social welfare institutions, assisted living, rehabilitation facilities, residential long-term care, emergency assistance, social therapeutic activities for seniors and disabled and weekly stationaries. The work is aimed at identification of the moments which significantly affect working conditions. It studies which of them are accepted positively and which make job performance more difficult or even impossible to complete. To collect the data of the survey, the questionnaires were used. While 180 questionnnaires were distributed, only 134 of them were given back which means 74% return rate. The questions were focused on differences of working conditions between residence and field social workers, and the impact of further education and changes resulted from introducing quality standards for social care. The findings of the study will help identify and gradually improve working conditions of social care staff.
