Thesis (MTech. degree in Safety and Security Management.)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2012. / Community Service Centres of the South African Police Service usually referred to as charge offices are the only offices which remain opened daily, on a 24 hour basis to provide services to the community relating to safety and security. However, little is known on the extent to which services rendered by these offices are effective and the problems militating against their optimal service delivery to the clients, especially in the present dawn of public clamouring for effective service delivery in South Africa. Against this background, the motivation of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of police officials employed at the Community Service Centres in the East Rand Area with regard to quality of services provided to community members as clients and the associated problems.
