Bakgrund: Att få en stomi är en stor kroppslig förändring som påverkar det dagliga livet. Detta kan göra de flesta patienter osäkra och påverka självbilden. Sjukdom som kan kräva en stomioperation är Kolorektalcancer, vilket är vanligt i västvärlden. I Sverige förekommer årligen ca 3000 nya fall av koloncancer och ca 1700 fall av rektalcancer. Det är sjuksköterskans ansvar att informera och undervisa patienter samt förvissa sig om att patienten förstår given information. Sjuksköterskan ska även uppmärksamma patienter som ej själva uttrycker informationsbehov eller har speciella informationsbehov. Syfte: Att genom en litteraturstudie belysa stomiopererades erfarenheter av bemötande och information från vårdpersonal. Metod: Litteraturstudien utfördes enligt viss systematik och all data som presenteras i resultatet kommer från vetenskapliga studier som primärkällor. För att finna bästa möjliga forskningsresultat inom det valda ämnet utfördes sökningar i databaserna CINAHL och PubMed. Resultatet baserades på sju vetenskapliga studier. De teman som utsågs i studierna var bemötande, information samt kroppsuppfattning och sexualitet. Resultatet visade att det var viktigt att bli bemött som en unik individ. Deltagarna i studierna uttryckte vikten av att deras frågor blev tagna på allvar och att de fick svar. Patienter som upplevde sig ha haft en dialog med vårdpersonalen upplevde att de själva kunde fatta beslut eller lämna över detta till vårdpersonalen. Bristfällighet i informationen orsakade frustration och osäkerhet som påverkade patienternas förståelse av beslut och vad dessa tillförde. Många kände sig främmande för stomin när de först såg den. En känsla av att vara annorlunda, minskad självrespekt och självkänsla beskrevs samt avsky och emotionell chock. Både män och kvinnor uppgav oro över sexuallivet och att de kände sig mindre attraktiva. / Background: To get a stoma is a big bodily change that affects everyday life. This can make most patients unsure of themselves and affect self-image. One disease that can result in a stoma operation is Colorectal cancer, which is common in the western world. In Sweden, around 3000 new cases of colon cancer and approximately 1700 cases of rectal cancer are discovered. It is the nurses’ responsibility to educate and inform patients and to be sure that the patient understands the given information. The nurse should also notice patients that do not express information needs or have special information needs. Aim: through a literature review, to illuminate the experiences of those has undergone a stoma operation regarding treatment and information given from healthcare staff. Method: The literature review was carried out according in a systematic way and all data represented in the result comes from scientific studies as primary sources. To find the best research result within the chosen subject searches were made in the CINAHL and PubMed databases. The result was based on seven scientific articles. The themes chosen in the studies were treatment, information and body image and sexuality. The result showed that it was important to be treated like a unique individual. The participants in the studies expressed the importance of their questions being taken seriously and that they were answered. Patients that felt that they had had a dialog with the health care staff felt that they could make their own decisions or leave this over to the health care staff. A lack of information caused frustration and uncertainty that affected patients understanding of decisions and what they brought. Many felt alienated by the stoma when they first saw it. A feeling of being different, lack of self-respect and self-esteem was described, along with disgust and emotional chock. Both men and women mentioned anxiety over their sex-life and that they felt less attractive.
