Vi befinner oss i ett område bakom travbanan i Solvalla. Här finns planer för ett nytt bostadsområde och vårt kandidatarbete har handlat om att rita en skola på en utav bostadsområdets tomter. Tomten är vänd mot en gata i nordöst och ett skogsområde i sydväst. Sporthallen har varit min absolut viktigaste generator som genomsyrat hela projektets utveckling och process. Jag har valt att låta sporthallen vara en central del i skolans utformning och tanken bakom detta är att lokalen ska kunna generera olika aktiviteter vid olika tider under dygnet. Det är lätt att tänka sig att sporthallen som nedgrävs i och med tomtytans storlek i förhållande till det stora ytprogrammet som tillkommer. Jag har istället valt att inte sänka ner sporthallen för att kunna nyttja lokalens fulla kapacitet i den nya förskolan. För mig kan en sporthall vara så mycket mer än bara en plats för att utföra fysiska övningar i grupp. Det skulle till exempel kunna fungera som en gemensam samlingsplats för elever och lärare, en rastplats, studieyta, en aula, ett bibliotek, en lokal för klassdisco, biosalong eller en plats för skolavslutningar och andra sociala evenemang. Sporthallen är generellt sätt en ganska outnyttjad yta i relation till dess storlek. Lokalen tar upp mycket plats och är kostsam att bygga och underhålla. Så varför inte göra något fint av den? Därför har jag tänkt att sporthallen ska kunna vara öppen för lokalsamhället och hyras ut för att skapa ett bredare användningsområde samt gynna föreningsliv och gemenskap i det nya bostadsområdet i Solvalla. I det centrala bottenplanet kommer sporthallen tillsammans med matsal, omklädningsrum och kök utgöra en offentlig plats där man under uthyrning har tillgång till alla faciliteter. När skolan är öppen under dagtid kommer endast elever och lärare ha tillgång till de respektive lokalerna. Min vision har varit att skapa en skola med en central mittpunkt som ska kunna fungera som en länk mellan elever och lärare. En plats för det sociala mötet sker och där alla får vara med och delta på sina egna villkor. / The sporthall has been my most important generator throughout the entire project's development and process. I have chosen to let the sporthall be a central part of the school's design and the idea behind this choise is that the venue will be able to generate differnt activities at different times of the day. It is easy to imagine that the sporthall is buired becuse of the relation between the size of the program and the area of the bulding plot. Instead, I have chosen not to lower the sporthall in order to use the full capacity of the premesis in the new preschool. To me, a sporthall can be so much more than just a place to carry out physical exercises in a group. It could, for example, serve as a common gathering place for students and teachers, a resting place, study area, an aula, library, cinema lounge or a place for school closures and other social events. The sporthall is generally a rather unused area in relation to its size. The venue occupies a lot of space and is expensive to build and maintain. So why not do something nice of it? Therefore, I think the sporthall should be open to the local community to create a broader filed of use inthe new residental area in Solvalla. In the central ground floor, the sporthall, together with the dining room, changing room and kitchen will be a public space ehere you have acess to all the public facilities during rental. When the school is open during daytime, only students and teachers will have access to the respective premises. My vision has been to create a school with a central midpoint that can serve as a link between student and teachers, as well as the community and a place where social meetings takes place.
