This thesis deals with the influence of 5 and 15 % milk thistle seed cake supplements in the compound feed for fattening broiler chickens Ross 308. The number of 75 roosters was divided into three equal groups, whilst the first experimental group (MT5) received the compound feed containing 5 % of milk thistle, the second experimental group (MT15) received the compound feed with 15 % of milk thistle seed cake. The third group, the control (K), was fed a mixture without any addition of milk thistle. We were recording and evaluating an average weight, weight gains, the feed consum-ption, the feed conversion and the carcass yield. The feed consumption was significantly lower in both groups fed with the milk thistle supplement, the feed conversion ratio also decreased in both experimental milk thistle groups, the optimal values being reached only in the control group. The carcass yield was obviously affected in a negative way (P <0.05) by the addition of the milk thistle supplement. Therefore we can confirm that the milk thistle supplements in the amount used in this experiment are not a suitable com-ponent in the compound feed of broiler chickens.
