Chemical Constituents and Cytotoxicity of Formosan Soft Coral Xenia sp. (GN51)

Organisms of Formosan soft coral Xenia sp. (GN51) (collected at green island off Taiwan) were freeze-dried to give 600 g of a solid, which was extracted with CH2Cl2 and CH2Cl2/MeOH (1:1). After removal of solvent in vacuo, the residue was chromatographed over Sical gel 60 separation resulated in the isolation of two new diterpenes, GN51-118 (5) (new carbon skeleton) and GN51-119 (6), five known diterpenes isoxeniolide-A (1), xeniolide-B (2), floride A (7), xenione (8), 13-epi-9-desacetyl-xenicin (9) as well as five sesquiterpenes 4b- hydroxgermacra-1(10),5-diene (3), parahigginone (4), xenitorin C (10), xenitorin A (11)and xenitorin B (12)¡C
