Se realizaron dos pruebas experimentales de campo, con el fin de evaluar y comparar la eficacia y el efecto residual de la combinación del methoprene 15% y permetrina 65% con imidacloprid 6% y permetrina 24% en el control de pulgas y garrapatas en caninos, bajo condiciones de infestación natural, durante los meses de julio a octubre del 2004. La evaluación del control de pulgas se realizó en caninos naturalmente infestados pertenecientes a una granja de aves ubicada en los Huertos de Manchay. Se seleccionaron 30 animales altamente infestados con pulgas, y se distribuyeron en 3 grupos de 10 animales. Grupo A: Controles no tratados; Grupo B: Tratados con Imidacloprid 6% y Permetrina 24% a dosis de 1ml/10 kg peso; Grupo C: Tratados con Methoprene 15% y Permetrina 65% a dosis de 2 ml para animales de menos de 15 kg y 3 ml para animales de más de 15 kg, ambos administrados tópicamente spot on. Los resultados mostraron a los 14 días post tratamiento la efectividad más alta con 91.1% para el Grupo B y 94.3% para el Grupo C disminuyendo la eficacia durante la cuarta semana post tratamiento a 69.1% y 78.3% respectivamente. Cabe mencionar el rol importante que desempeño la alta carga parasitaria del medio ambiente logrando que todos los animales sujetos al estudio estuvieran siempre frente al desafío de constantes y poderosas reinfestaciones naturales. / They were carried out two experimental field tests, in order to evaluate and to compare the effectiveness and the residual effect of the combination of methoprene 15% / permetrina 65% and of the imidacloprid 6%/permetrina 24% in the control of fleas and ticks in canine, under natural infestation conditions between July and October 2004. The canine flea control evaluation was carried out in dogs belonging to a poultry farm located at the Orchards of Manchay. 30 flea-infested canines were selected, and distributed in 3 groups of 10 animals. Group A: Non treats controls; Group B: treated with Imidacloprid 6% and Permetrina 24% at a dose of 1ml/10 kg weight; Group C: treated with Methoprene 15% and Permetrina 65% at a dose of 2 ml for animals less than 15 kg and 3 ml for animals with more than 15 kg, both administered spot on topically. The results at 14 post treatment day showed the highest effectiveness with 91.1% for the Group B and 94.3% for the Group C diminishing it during the fourth week post treatment to 69.1% and 78.3% respectively. It is necessary to mention the important role of the high parasitic load of the environment making all animals, subject of the study, to face the challenge of constant and powerful natural reinfestations.
