OBJETIVO: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento y su relación con el uso de métodos anticonceptivos en madres adolescentes del “Centro de Salud Chorrillos I Gustavo Lanatta” durante febrero-abril del 2015. METODOLOGÍA: Estudio de tipo observacional, con diseño descriptivo- correlacional, prospectivo y de corte transversal, en el que participaron 47 madres adolescentes del “Centro de Salud Chorrillos I Gustavo Lanatta Lujan” que fueron encuestadas entre los meses de febrero a abril del 2015. Para el análisis descriptivo de las variables cualitativas se estimaron frecuencias absolutas y relativas y para las variables cuantitativas se estimaron medidas de tendencia central (promedio) y de dispersión (desviación estándar). La relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y el uso de métodos anticonceptivos se estableció mediante la prueba Chi-cuadrado, con un nivel de confianza (IC) del 95%, el cual se consideró significativo cuando tenía un valor p<0.05. RESULTADOS: Las madres adolescentes tenían una edad promedio de 18 años, eran convivientes (53.2%), con grado de instrucción secundaria (74.5%) y primíparas (93.6%). El nivel de conocimiento sobre los métodos anticonceptivos fue “Medio” en el 43% de las madres adolescentes, “Bajo” en el 32% y “Alto” en el 25%. El 63.8% de madres adolescentes usan métodos anticonceptivos, mientras que el 36.2% no usan. La mayoría de las madres adolescentes recibió información acerca de los métodos anticonceptivos (93.6%) del Centro de Salud (53.2%) y utilizó el inyectable trimestral (31.9%). Existe relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y el uso de métodos anticonceptivos (p=0.011). CONCLUSIÓN: El nivel de conocimiento sobre métodos anticonceptivos se relaciona de manera significativa con su uso en madres adolescentes del “Centro de Salud Chorrillos I Gustavo Lanatta Lujan” durante febrero-abril del 2015 (p= 0.011). METHODOLOGY: Observational study, with correlational, prospective and descriptivecross sectional design, in which 47 teenage mothers “Health Center Chorrillos I Gustavo Lanatta” who were surveyed between February and April 2015.
