A abordagem sobre o atual processo de fragmentação das sociedades e dos territórios diz respeito à emergência do período técnico-científico-informacional. O objetivo deste estudo é compreender a natureza e o significado da fragmentação no município de Formosa do Rio Preto, localizado no estado da Bahia, em decorrência da introdução de uma agricultura científica globalizada. Para tanto, adota-se como referencial teórico a concepção do espaço geográfico compreendido como sinônimo de território usado, teorizado por Santos et al (2000), composto pelos recortes das horizontalidades e das verticalidades. A partir dessa composição e subdivisão do espaço, decidiu-se analisar a fragmentação tendo em vista três aspectos principais que possibilitaram chegar à sua natureza e a seu significado: (1) a reestruturação produtiva da agricultura em Formosa do Rio Preto; (2) a inserção de Formosa do Rio Preto na divisão territorial do trabalho; e (3) o uso do território pelos agentes hegemônicos da agricultura científica globalizada. Os procedimentos metodológicos foram pautados em entrevistas semiestruturadas em diversos grupos, como o de agricultores, tanto da agricultura moderna quanto da tradicional, empresários, políticos, técnicos de diversos órgãos e associações do município estudado e da região. Observou-se que a modernização atual da agricultura, proveniente de um período marcado pela globalização, produz um arranjo organizacional que responde por fragmentações ao desarticular as antigas solidariedades orgânicas, como as ocorridas no espaço agrícola e na relação entre campo e cidade, no município de Formosa do Rio Preto, concomitante com a criação de solidariedades organizacionais. / ABSTRACT
The approach about the new process of fragmentation of the society and territories shows the emergence of techno-scientific-informational period. The objective of this study is to understand the nature and the meaning of the fragmentation in Formosa do Rio Preto, a small city in Bahia, consequence of the introduction of a global scientific agriculture. To that, the theoretical background was based on the understanding of the geographic space as synonym for used territory, which consists in snips of horizontality and verticality. From this composition and subdivision of the space, it was decided to analyze the fragmentation using three main aspects that enable get up to its nature and meaning: (1) the productive restructuring of agriculture in Formosa do Rio Preto; (2) the introduction of Formosa do Rio Preto in the territorial division of labor and (3) the use of the territory by hegemonic agents of global scientific agriculture. The methodological procedures were based on interviews divided in several groups, as farmers from both the modern and traditional agriculture, businessmen, politics, technicians of several associations and bodies of the city and region studied in that study. It was observed that the modernization of agriculture, from the period marked for globalization, produces an organizational arrangement that answers for fragmentations when disarticulates the old organic solidarity, as occurred in the agricultural space and in the rural-urban relationship in the city of Formosa do Rio Preto, at the same time, the creation of organizational solidarity.
