Previous issue date: 2002-04-20 / The purpose of this subject is to study the pedagogical conditions found in
the stone masons of the firms where the students from the Civil Engineering
Course of the “UCG – Universidade Católica de Goiás” take their professional
training, as a effective environment for an auspicious apprenticeship of practical
acknowledgements by the students, due to their acquaintanceship with the
professionals, and where they can learn how to apply their theoretical knowledges
to practical conditions of working.
Part of the study is based on a research about the conditions proper to the
stone masons, where the students do their apprenticeship and the actions in the
discipline “Estágio Supervisionado” of the Civil Engineering Course of the UCG
take place, in the task of preparing the students to face the reality of the
construction enterprises.
A clear view of the power relations between the workers at the stone mason
and the student trainees, as well as the effects derived from these relations on the
acting of those students, are the main results of these analysis done.
In a similar way, a certain negligence has been detected in the roll of the
University, with respect to an efficient accompaniment of the students’
performances, during the training periods, independently of the will of the teachers.
A reflection about the conquests reached by the formation programs based
upon the abilities and competences desired, has endorsed the application of
scientific research projects as a basic educational principle for the generation of
new knowledges. Yet, it shows that there are three different moments in the
formation process of a student, who chooses the Civil Engineering course to take:
1st) As he succeeds in the “Vestibular” – it refers to the volume of
diversified knowledgements the student is tested upon, so as to enter the
University;
2nd) During the graduation course – it concerns the roll of basic and
professional disciplines the student is obliged to take, besides the
complementary experience of the professional training he gets outside the
school;
3rd) After he graduates from the University – in regard to his
professional life, he is required to attend a continuing formation program so as to
satisfy the strenuous working conditions of the economy.
This reflection also suggests a few changes in the curriculum of the Civil
Engineering Course of the UCG and in the relationship between the Universidade
Católica de Goiás and the productive world of the stone mason, for it to be
identified as a privileged place for the UCG Department of Engineering students to
learn the practice of the Engineer’s profession. / Este trabalho se propôs a realizar um estudo sobre as condições dos canteiros de
obras das empresas em que os alunos do curso de Engenharia Civil da UCG
realizam seus Estágios Supervisionados, verificando se constituem um ambiente
pedagógico favorável à aprendizagem esperada dos conhecimentos oferecidos
pela convivência com o mundo do trabalho, onde o aluno possa aprender
conhecimentos, posturas e valores essenciais à sua formação profissional.
O estudo se baseia numa pesquisa feita a respeito das condições dos estágios,
nos canteiros de obras, e das ações desenvolvidas na disciplina Estágio
Supervisionado do curso de Engenharia Civil, na preparação dos alunos para
vivenciar a realidade das obras.
A análise dessa pesquisa permitiu obter uma visão clara das relações existentes
entre os elementos das obras e os estagiários, bem como dos efeitos dessas
relações no rendimento do trabalho dos estagiários. Da mesma forma, ficou
evidenciada uma certa negligência, por parte da Universidade, independente da
vontade dos Professores, no tocante ao acompanhamento eficaz dos alunos,
durante a realização dos estágios.
Uma reflexão sobre os princípios da formação por competências e da aplicação de
projetos de pesquisa científica, como princípio educativo importante para a
geração de novos conhecimentos, mostrou a existência de três momentos
fundamentais na formação do aluno do curso de Engenharia Civil:
- na época do seu vestibular, com a exigência de uma formação inicial
complexa e variada, vinda do ensino médio;
- no decorrer do curso de graduação, com uma forte formação básica e uma
complexa formação profissional, complementada pela inserção no campo
de trabalho, iniciada, possivelmente, através do estágio supervisionado; e
- depois que ele sai da Universidade, já como profissional, com a formação
continuada que lhe é exigida pelas condições atuais do mercado de
trabalho.
Essa reflexão fez, também, sugestões de mudanças curriculares no curso de
Engenharia Civil e na relação da Universidade com o mundo produtivo, para que o
canteiro de obras pudesse ser identificado como um local privilegiado para o
estudante do Departamento de Engenharia da UCG aprender a práxis da
profissão do Engenheiro.
