Previous issue date: 2001-08-20 / The finality of this paper is to investigate the impact of the formation
course and the work in the military police service and its influence in
changes in significative aspects of the identity of people that search a
military career. The study was carried in the Policia Militar do Estado de
Goiás, in the city of Goiânia. This study has a descritive nature and was
carried following the phenomenologic method, having as main tool for
collecting data, the Rorschach’s psychodiagnosys. The study was carried
focusing two distincts groups: the group of civilians newly admited in the
Polícia Militar do Estado de Goiás and the group of veterans. The results
achieved in the two groups that was compared, was the followings: the
formation couse and the work as a military policeman don’t induce so
many changes in the identity as was expected, but that they are bound to
aspects less general then that. It was concluded that the changes in the
identity of the people that search a military career aren’t negatives but
also positives, mainly in the acquisition of effective internal controls on
aggressive behaviour or impulsion. These results point to another aspect
of the military career that is ignored and refer to its educative core and in
the generation of more mature and controlled behaviours. The negative
changes refer mainly to the development of anguish feelings and
dysphoria that lower their intellectual and perceptive capacities, by the way
of their stressing work and the strive in adapting to the corporation’s harsh
rules. / Investigar o impacto da formação e do exercício da função policial
militar influenciando na modificação de aspectos significativos da
identidade de indivíduos que buscam a carreira militar é o tema da
dissertação. A pesquisa foi efetuada na Polícia Militar do Estado de Goiás,
na cidade de Goiânia. A pesquisa é de natureza comparativa e
desenvolvida segundo o método fenomenológico de investigação, tendo
como principal instrumento de coleta de dados o Psicodiagnóstico de
Rorschach. Esta pesquisa foi direcionada a dois grupos distintos: o grupo
dos civis recém ingressos na Polícia Militar do Estado de Goiás, e o grupo
dos militares veteranos da mesma instituição. Os resultados alcançados à
partir dos dados obtidos e comparados entre os dois grupos foram os
seguintes: a formação e o exercício policial militar não produz tantas
modificações na identidade como era esperado, sendo tais mudanças
circunscritas a aspectos menos generalizados. Concluiu-se que as
modificações efetuadas na identidade dos indivíduos que buscam a
carreira militar, não são somente negativas, mas atingem também
aspectos positivos, principalmente no tocante à aquisição de controles
internos mais eficazes em relação à agressividade e impulsividade. Estes
resultados apontam para um outro aspecto do serviço policial militar que é
ignorado, que refere-se ao seu caráter educativo e potencializador de
comportamentos mais maduros e controlados. As mudanças negativas se
referem, principalmente, ao desenvolvimento de sentimentos de angústia,
disforia e melancolia, que diminuem suas capacidades intelectual e
perceptiva, em função do tipo de trabalho estressante e do esforço em se
adaptar às rígidas normas de conduta da corporação.
