Previous issue date: 2004 / This study aims at understanding the entrepreneurial process and the capacity of the incubators of promoting the technical training of the entrepreneurs as well as developing projects, turning them into prosperous companies. The bibliography about this topic is recent and it is based on actual cases and experiences. The development of the sector is quite big and has been happening with a certain speed, creating a demand for studies and scientific production. Due to the fact that it is an exploratory research, the chosen method was the case study, from which we aim at obtaining current information, representative of the reality. The universe of this research will be the incubators of companies that have a technological basis, the sample of which being the companies that are in the ¿Gênesis Institute¿, the incubator of companies of PUC-RIO. From the results, it will be possible to see entrepreneurial processes, training of businessmen, technological development and generation of prosperous companies. The theoretical reference presents the concepts of entrepreneurialship and IEBTs. / Este estudo objetiva entender o processo empreendedor e a capacidade das incubadoras de empresas em promover a capacitação técnica dos empresários e desenvolver projetos, transformando-os em empresas prósperas. A bibliografia sobre o assunto é recente e baseia-se em casos e experiências ocorridas. O desenvolvimento do setor é bastante grande e vem ocorrendo com certa velocidade, gerando uma demanda por estudos e produção científica. Por se tratar de pesquisa exploratória, o método escolhido foi o estudo de caso, do qual objetiva-se obter informações atuais e que representem a realidade. O universo da pesquisa irá restringir-se apenas às incubadoras de empresas de base tecnológica, sendo a amostra composta pelas empresas residentes no Instituto Gênesis, a Incubadora de Empresas da PUC-RIO. Com base nos resultados poder-se-á verificar processos empreendedores, capacitação de empresários, desenvolvimento tecnológico e geração de empresas prósperas. O referencial teórico apresenta os conceitos de Empreendedorismo e IEBTs.
