Defesa: Curitiba, 31/05/2012 / Inclui referências / Resumo: A presente pesquisa visa a identificar a percepção de mães sociais da profissão em que atuam. Mães sociais atuam em instituições de acolhimento do tipo casa lar que acolhe crianças e adolescentes em situação de vulnerabilidade social. No Brasil, estudos sobre a profissão de pais sociais são recentes, com pouca literatura quanto aos serviços prestados. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa de caráter exploratório e que se pauta no método de Aguiar e Ozella (2006) baseado em Vygotsky. Realizaram-se observações e entrevistas semiestruturadas com seis mães sociais com idades entre 32 e 54 anos, coordenadoras de seis casas lares de três instituições de acolhimento de Curitiba, PR. Da análise de dados emergiram três núcleos de significação: como me tornei mãe social; a mãe dos filhos dos outros e o diferente como desafio, os quais em interação respondem à percepção de mães sociais investigadas sobre a sua profissão. Os resultados evidenciam o desenvolvimento de uma função, não de uma profissão, que conta com um treinamento que envolve somente a mãe social e não o seu companheiro, o pai social. Esta função é entendida, basicamente,
como o cuidar dos filhos dos outros como dos próprios, desconsiderando que as estratégias educativas utilizadas com os próprios filhos nem sempre são as mais adequadas para crianças especialmente vulneráveis. As práticas cotidianas realizadas por eles estão relacionadas ao ambiente doméstico, de cuidados gerais e de educação dos acolhidos. Os pais sociais percebem no seu trabalho benefícios ao desenvolvimento do acolhido, por serem referências emocionais, sociais e de afeto. As dificuldades percebidas no desenvolvimento da função foram a falta de conhecimento para mediar comportamentos; tempo para interagir, dar mais atenção às crianças e adolescentes, visto contarem em média com dez crianças por casa; tempo para cuidar de si; estresse e desgaste físico. A relação positiva com os acolhidos, o gostar do cuidar, a identificação com a causa social e o suporte social e institucional foram identificados como facilitadores da sua função. Como conclusão, ressalta-se a necessidade de formação e capacitação continuada da mãe e do pai social para trabalhar com os acolhidos, a revisão de concepções envolvendo a função de mãe social, hoje cuidadora/educadora residente, investimento em parâmetros reguladores da sua função que levem a uma profissão, bem como em políticas públicas que se voltem ao atendimento com qualidade de crianças acolhidas, fenômeno relacionado tanto à pobreza afetiva de grupos humanos, como a um contexto sócio-econômico pautado pela desigualdade social.

acolhimento institucional; vulnerabilidade social. / Abstract: The present research aims to identify the perception of social mothers of the
profession they perform. Social mothers act in sheltering institutions as househome where children and teenagers in social vulnerability situation are sheltered. In Brazil, studies about social parent profession are recent, with few literatures about the provided services. It deals about a quality research of exploratory character and which is based on Aguiar e Ozella (2006) method, based on Vygotsky. It was realized a number of semi-structured observations and interviews with six 32 to 54 year old social mothers who are coordinators of house-homes of three sheltering houses of Curitiba, PR. From the data analysis three meaning nucleus emerged: how I became a social mother; the mother of somebody else's children and the different as a challenge, which in interaction respond to the perception of social mothers inquired about their profession. The outcome evidenced the development of a function, not of a profession, which depends on a training that involves only the social mother and not her partner, the social father. This function is comprehended, basically, as taking care of somebody else's children as well as their own, disregarding that the education strategies used towards their own children not always are the most adequate for especially vulnerable children. The daily practices made by them are related to the domestic environment of general care and of the education of the sheltered ones. The social parents notice in their work the benefits on the sheltered child development, once they are emotional, social and affective references. The realized difficulties on the function development were the lack of knowledge to mediate behaviors; time to interact, give more attention to the children and teenagers, once there is an amount of ten children per house; time to take care of themselves, stress and physical wearing. The positive relationship with the sheltered ones, the appreciation of taking care, the identification with the social cause and the social and institutional support were identified as facilitators of the function. As a conclusion, it is enhanced the necessity of continued capacitating and formation of the social mother and father in order to work with the sheltered one, the review of concepts involving the social mother function, today resident educator/care taker, investments in regulating parameters of their function which lead to a profession, as well as the public policies which may turn into a qualified service for the sheltered children, phenomenon related to affective poverty of human groups as well as to a social-economic context ruled by social difference.
