Defesa: Curitiba, 07/05/2015 / Inclui referências : fls. 99-102 / Resumo: A manutenção das ideias imperialistas na Alemanha após a I Guerra Mundial compôs uma conjuntura delicada e diferenciada das outras nações, uma vez que o país perdeu suas colônias em 1919. A princípio, a crença em um desenvolvimento ininterrupto anunciado pelos imperialistas de fins do século XIX e início do XX deu lugar ao sentimento de humilhação e derrota que se transformou, por sua vez, em motivação pela recuperação da glória perdida da nação. Dessa forma, nesta dissertação procuramos entender de que formas o discurso imperialista conformou-se no período compreendido entre os anos de 1925 e 1943 a partir da análise de documentos visuais que foram materiais de propaganda confeccionados pela Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft (DKG - Sociedade Colonial Alemã). Procuramos entender como esse repertório imagético descreveu e representou a auto-imagem alemã nesse período, bem como os encontros interculturais que se sucediam com o colonialismo. Além de compreender a importância da visualidade no movimento neocolonial alemão, este trabalho também traz à tona o tema da construção e consolidação do racismo a partir das visões apresentadas sobre a África e o africano. Palavras-Chave: Imperialismo Alemão; Visualidade Colonial; Propaganda; Sociedade Colonial Alemã. / Abstract: The maintenance of the imperialistic ideias in Germany after the First World War composed a different and delicate conjuncture from the other nations, since this country had lost its colonies in 1919. At first, the belief of a constant development announced by the German imperialists in the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX, gave place to the sentiment of humiliation and defeat that soon became a motivation to regain the lost glory of the German nation. Thereby, in this dissertation we aim to understand in which ways the imperialistic discourse was constructed in the years between 1925 and 1943 from the analysis of visual documents that were used as propaganda instruments made by the Deutsche Kolonialgesellshaft (DKG - German Colonial Society). We seek to understand how this imagetic repertoire described and represented the German self image in this time, as well as the intercultural encounters that were succeeded with colonialism. In addition to understanding the importance of visuality in the neocolonial movement, this work also bring out the theme of the construction and the consolidation of racism from the images presented of Africa and the African native.
