Defesa: Curitiba, 21/08/2017 / Inclui referências : f. 83-86 / Resumo: Essa dissertação apoia-se no trabalho de Ionin et al (2004, 2008), que testam a Hipótese de Flutuação, na qual falantes de segunda língua (L2) cuja língua materna (L1) não tenha artigos oscilam entre dois valores paramétricos: definitude ou especificidade. O principal objetivo foi aferir se a transferência das estruturas da língua materna se sobreporá em relação à flutuação dos traços definidos ou específicos no processo aquisição de inglês como L2 por falantes cuja língua materna é o português brasileiro e, havendo evidências de flutuação, verificar se os diferentes níveis de aquisição terão influência nesse processo. Dessa forma, esse trabalho visa à corroboração dos estudos de Mayo (2009), que testou adquirentes de inglês como L2 cuja língua materna é o espanhol L1, duas línguas que apresentam artigos em seu sistema, a hipótese é que a transferência de propriedades de L1 se sobreporá à flutuação entre a escolha dos traços [±definidos] e [±específicos], pois o PB, como o inglês, codifica a definitude e não a especificidade. O resultado da pesquisa aponta a transferência como fonte de recurso para a aquisição dos artigos, no entanto dentre os 90 sujeitos da pesquisa, 19 sujeitos apresentaram um número significativo de erros. Verificou-se também, como levantado na hipótese de pesquisa, que provavelmente o nível de proficiência em língua inglesa dos sujeitos interfere nesse processo, os sujeitos com um nível mais baixo de proficiência em língua inglesa foram os que apresentaram o maior número de erros. Sendo necessário um estudo mais abrangente para testar essa hipótese. Palavras-chave: Aquisição de L2. Artigos. Hipótese de Flutuação. Gramática Universal. / Abstract: This dissertation is based on the work of Ionin et al (2004, 2008), who tested the Fluctuation Hypothesis, in which second language speakers (L2) whose mother tongue (L1) does not have articles oscillate between two parametric values: definiteness or specificity. The main objective was to verify if the transference of the mother tongue structures will overlap in relation to the fluctuation of the definiteness or specificity features in the acquisition of English as L2 by speakers whose mother tongue is Brazilian Portuguese (PB) and if there have been evidences of fluctuation verify if the different levels will have an influence on this process. In this way, this work aims to corroborate the studies of Mayo (2009), which tested English acquirers as L2 whose mother tongue is Spanish L1, two languages that present articles in their system. The hypothesis is that the transfer of L1 properties will overlap the fluctuation between the choice [± defined] and [± specific] traces, since PB, like English, encodes the definite rather than the specificity. The research results point to the transfer as a source for the acquisition of articles, however, among the 90 subjects, 19 subjects presented a significant number of errors. It was also verified, as it was raised in the research hypothesis that probably the subjects level of proficiency in English interferes in this process, being the subjects with a lower level in English language those who presented more errors.
