Previous issue date: 2017-10-24 / This study aims to investigate the incidence of language in the subject. Therefore, the study of Jewishness has proved a fertile field for us to think about such effects. Like a culture that has always had its history marked by dispersion and exile throughout the world, the question of language within Jewish identity is always a very relevant point to be discussed. Thus, in addition to Psychoanalysis, the disciplines of Historical linguistics and Sociolinguistics served as support for a better development and understanding and, given the complexity of the field, were essential for the development of this research. The Yiddish, German, and Hebrew languages traced the fate of this Jewishness which hoped for the assimilation of Germanic culture, ending centuries of persecution, rising economically and intellectually, becoming pariah within a secular society. However, the course of history leaves no doubt that assimilation was an ambiguous project that brought about subjective consequences that were revealed in the relationship between mother tongue and Jewish identity, which can be felt in the experiences of authors such as Hannah Arendt, Paul Celan and Aharon Appelfeld. The Nazi discourse made the German language a weapon against the Jewish people by legitimizing the extermination of much of the Jewish population of Europe. To those who survived, there remains a traumatic experience that can be felt in the different styles of narrative that address the testimony of the shoah. After an event like this, the unspeakable language marks the impossibility of a confrontation with lived.
Key-words: Psychoanalysis. language. jewishness. assimilation. shoah. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar as incidências da língua no sujeito. Para tanto, o estudo da judeidade se mostrou um campo fértil para pensarmos sobre tais efeitos. Por se tratar de um povo que sempre teve sua história marcada pela dispersão e exílio pelo mundo, a questão da língua dentro da identidade judaica é sempre um ponto muito relevante a ser discutido. Com isso, para além da Psicanálise, as disciplinas da Linguística histórica e a Sociolinguística, serviram de suporte para uma melhor fomentação e compreensão e, dada a complexidade do campo, se mostraram imprescindíveis para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa. As línguas iídiche, alemã e hebraica traçaram o destino dessa judeidade que tinha como esperança pela assimilação da cultura germânica, findar séculos de perseguições, ascender economicamente e intelectualmente, tornando-se pária dentro de uma sociedade secular. No entanto, o decorrer da história não deixa dúvidas de que a assimilação foi um projeto ambíguo, que trouxe consequências de ordem subjetiva que se revelaram na relação entre língua materna e identidade judaica, que podem ser sentidas nas experiências de autores como Hannah Arendt, Paul Celan e Aharon Appelfeld. O discurso nazista fez da língua alemã uma arma contra o povo judeu legitimando o extermínio de grande parte da população judia da Europa. Aos que sobreviveram, restou uma experiência traumática que pode ser sentida nos diferentes estilos de narrativa que abordam o testemunho sobre a Shoah. Após um evento como este, o indizível da língua marca a impossibilidade de um confronto com vivido.
