Previous issue date: 2009-04-24 / This study aimed to examine the settings of the family originated from assisted reproduction. With this end in view, the psychoanalytic theory was used to discuss the concept of family from the biomedical interventions in the body, in the sexuality and in the desire for children, as well as the possible effects of these procedures on psychological generational transmission. We take into
consideration the prevailing technical-scientific discourse in which the knowledge of biomedical sciences is dominant and intervenes in the formation of families and forms of subjectivity. It is in this context that the psychoanalysis rescues the dimension of the unconsciousness and of the sexuality, showing a concept of family based on desire, on membership as symbolic integration and
on the maternal and paternal functions detached from the social figures of the parents. The psychoanalytic propositions lead us to understand the different family arrangements of contemporaneity and to think that the subjects who come from these new formations will find a form of subjectivity within the context they are in.

interdisciplinarity. / Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar as configurações familiares advindas do processo de reprodução medicamente assistida. Com esta finalidade, utilizamos a teoria psicanalítica para discutirmos a família a partir das intervenções biomédicas no corpo, na sexualidade e no desejo de filhos, bem como as possíveis repercussões destes procedimentos na transmissão psíquica geracional. Consideramos a vigência de um discurso técnico-científico no qual impera o saber das ciências biomédicas, que intervém na constituição das famílias e nas formas de subjetivação. É nesse contexto que a psicanálise vem resgatar a dimensão do inconsciente e da sexualidade, apresentando uma noção de família baseada no desejo, na filiação como inserção simbólica e nas
funções materna e paterna separadas das figuras sociais dos pais. As proposições psicanalíticas nos levam a compreender os diferentes arranjos familiares da contemporaneidade e a pensar que os sujeitos oriundos destas novas formações encontrarão uma forma de subjetivação no contexto em que
estão envolvidos.
