Previous issue date: 2010-11-26 / The contemporary world presents as its central mark the acceleration of the time that sets new social rhythms, from which numerous offers to open up that can play hard all the possibilities of pleasure as promises of obtaining happiness and satisfaction, thereby fostering a culture permeated by the excesses of an exacerbated and uncritical consumption. In work contexts, rationality reigns of linear time, whereby the work becomes lifeless due to mechanization to dominate as a source of security, reliability and accuracy necessary for organizational efficiency, which, however, a potential source of suffering and illness for the worker. This research aims at identifying the meanings given by the printing industry workers from Ceará to the disruptions in the time of the task. A qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research was conducted through the work field following an ethnographic approach, based on participant observation with daily records in this field. Field observations were supplemented by the creation of semi-structured interviews with the subjects of the study staff within the criteria adopted and considering the saturation sample. With the completion of this study it was established that in the midst of adverse conditions and potentially sickness working conditions in contemporary society, workers are able to take breaks in the time of the task, like shares of free speech, considered as a way of dealing with these conditions allow the (re) define working time, breaking the time of the routine, monotony, and thus, (re) signify the time worked beyond the pain and suffering, but also as a possibility to be lived in creative, playful and festive way. At the time quantifiable organizations stand in the subjective time of the subjects, therefore, by how workers perceive and mean the working time, undertake actions that constitute routine job cuts that help working hours to spend more pleasurable, filled with the representation of meaning for those who experience it. It appears also on possible similarities between the breaks in the time of the task undertaken by the experiences of leisure, as experiences that occur under the freedom of choice and intrinsic motivation, providing individual and collective impact on the subject of experience.

Idleness Conditions. / A contemporaneidade apresenta como marca central a aceleração do tempo que configura novos ritmos sociais, a partir dos quais se abrem inúmeras ofertas para que se consiga viver intensamente todas as possibilidades de prazer como promessas de obtenção de felicidade e satisfação, fomentando, assim, a cultura dos excessos perpassada pelo consumo exacerbado e acrítico. Nos contextos laborais, impera a racionalidade do tempo linear, mediante o qual o trabalho inanimado decorrente da mecanização passa a imperar como fonte de segurança, confiabilidade e precisão, necessários à eficiência organizacional, sendo, contudo, fonte potencial de sofrimento e adoecimento para o trabalhador. Esta investigação tem como objetivo geral identificar os significados atribuídos por trabalhadores do setor gráfico cearense às rupturas empreendidas no tempo da tarefa. Pesquisa de natureza qualitativa, exploratória e descritiva, realizada mediante trabalho de campo seguindo um enfoque etnográfico, com base na observação participante, com registros em diário de campo. As observações de campo foram complementadas com a realização de entrevistas semi-estruturadas com os sujeitos colaboradores do estudo, dentro dos critérios de inclusão adotados e considerando a saturação amostral. Com a realização deste estudo, foi possível constatar que, em meio às condições adversas e potencialmente adoecedoras das condições de trabalho na contemporaneidade, os trabalhadores são capazes de empreender rupturas no tempo da tarefa, como ações de livre expressão, consideradas como forma de enfrentamento dessas condições que lhes permitem (re) significar o tempo de trabalho, rompendo com o tempo da rotina, da monotonia, passando, assim, a (re) significar o tempo de trabalho transpondo a dor e o sofrimento, mas também como possibilidade de ser vivido de forma criativa, lúdica e festiva. Ao tempo quantificável das organizações se interpõe o tempo subjetivo dos sujeitos, pois, mediante o modo como os trabalhadores percebem e significam o tempo de trabalho, empreendem ações que representam cortes na rotina da tarefa, que ajudam o tempo de trabalho a passar de forma mais prazerosa, com a representação repleta de significados para aqueles que o vivenciam. Infere-se ainda sobre possíveis aproximações entre as rupturas empreendidas no tempo da tarefa com as experiências de ócio, como vivências ocorrentes no âmbito da livre eleição e da motivação intrínseca, conferindo repercussões individuais e coletivas ao sujeito da experiência.
