Previous issue date: 2003-04-30 / This dissertation aims at analyzing the relation between suffering and the subjectivity
process in written language throughout literary experience. From the horizon of four
works by Clarice Lispector, this study tries to investigate which is from
páthos(suffering) in language drama that changed from reference of her simple
experience to strong registration of the epoch, revealing sedimentation processes of
crises and contingencies that markes any human being in this epoch. The dissertation
is composed of four parts. The first one analyzes how the construction of the
individualist vision in the Western World, based on the absolute self-centering of the
subject, allows not only the birth of the subject as a literary description, but also the
homo politicus death and the advent of the homo psychologicus as a fundamental
feature of a therapeutic and narcisist culture. In the second part, it is made a stronger
emphasis on the connection of the biographical elements of Clarice Lispector's life in
her process of literary writing as a testimony of a search for building her existence.
The third part, rescues the place of the subject in the world from language, through
the process of suffering, dispossession and reconquest of subjectivity described in the
narrative experience of the work A Paixão Segundo G.H.. At this moment, criticizes
the therapeutic and narcisist logic of a society that venerates the existence
esthetization myth. The forth part, illuminated by the analysis of Lispector's fiction
trilogy Água Viva, A Hora da Estrela and Um Sopro de Vida, identifies, in this
literary description, the possible movements to the construction of the subjective
identity as denounce of a world whose legacy was the subject's dullness on
comprehending the destines of the civilization itself. The conclusion, finally, reveals
the necessary effort of Lispector's narrative to be a refined reflection on the
subjective existence.

psychologic suffering. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a relação existente entre o sofrimento e o processo de subjetivação na linguagem escrita realizada através da experiência literária. Tendo como horizonte maior quatro obras de Clarice Lispector pretende-se a partir destas perscrutar o que há de páthos(sofrimento) em meio ao drama de uma linguagem que deixou de ser apenas uma referência da mera experiência de si para ser um registro contundente de uma época, revelando os processos de sedimentação das crises e contingências que marcam a vida de qualquer ser humano em nossa epocalidade. Dividido em quatro partes: a primeira trata de analisar como a construção da visão individualista no mundo Ocidental, a partir do autocentramento absoluto do sujeito, comporta não só o nascimento do sujeito como descrição literária, mas também a morte do homo politicus e o advento do homo psychologicus, traço fundamental de uma cultura terapêutica e narcísica; a segunda dá uma ênfase maior a aproximação de elementos autobiográficos da vida de Clarice Lispector no processo de realização de sua obra literária, como testemunho de sua busca pessoal da construção do seu fazer existencial; a terceira, resgata o lugar do sujeito no mundo a partir da linguagem através da análise do processo de sofrimento, desapossamento e reconquista da subjetividade descrita na experiência narrativa da obra A Paixão Segundo G.H. . Momento, também, para tecer uma crítica à lógica terapêutica e narcísica de uma sociedade que reverencia o mito da estetização da existência; a quarta, iluminada pela análise da trilogia ficcional clariceana: Água Viva, A Hora Da Estrela e Um Sopro de Vida, procura, nessa descrição literária, os movimentos possíveis à construção da identidade subjetiva como denúncia de um mundo cujo legado foi o embotamento do sujeito para compreender os destinos da própria civilização. Finalmente, a conclusão mostra o esforço necessário da narrativa clariceana em ser uma refinada reflexão sobre a existência subjetiva.
