Keywords: Immunity; temple; Worship, religious freedom. / A presente pesquisa versa sobre as Imunidades Religiosas, objetivando a análise do instituto, sob a ótica da lei, da doutrina e da jurisprudência à luz da Constituição da República Federativa do Brasil de 1988. O estudo contempla a liberdade de culto em suas nuances de natureza religiosa, enfocando o conceito, os requisitos necessários à sua concessão, hipóteses de imunidade, tipos de impostos abrangidos pelo benefício e causa de perda da imunidade. Inicialmente, traçou-se uma breve exposição histórica no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento do instituto da imunidade para, posteriormente, focar as suas distinções conceituais bem como a identificação dos fundamentos normativos que ensejam pontos essenciais para um melhor desenvolvimento textual. Abordou-se o significado de questões relativas a templo, culto e liberdade religiosa e o alcance dos significados dados aos dispositivos constitucionais relacionados à referida imunidade. Com base nessa abordagem, conclui-se que há necessidade de que os valores obtidos pela entidade religiosa se destinem ao desenvolvimento de suas atividades essenciais para que venha a gozar das imunidades previstas no artigo 150, inciso VI, letra ¿b¿, parágrafo 4º do mesmo artigo.
