The present dissertation, entitled "Synthesis of Hydrazones, Semicarbazones and Thiosemicarbazones of 5-substituted Indirubines," describes the preparation and characterization of indirubins 3’ hydrazones, semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones. Two synthetic routes were examined to obtain the proposed target compounds: 1) via the nucleophilic addition reaction of indirubins-3'-hydrazones to phenylisocyanates and phenylisothiocyanates and 2) by the condensation between 5-substituted indirubins and N4semicarbazides and thiosemicarbazides. The compounds obtained were characterized by their melting, ultraviolet-visible and infrared spectroscopies, and 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance.
