Previous issue date: 2015 / Nesta dissertação investigarei os conceitos de potência de não e inoperosidade na obra do
filósofo italiano Giorgio Agamben, partindo, para tanto, do uso que este faz da personagem
Bartleby, o escrivão de Melville, que, como um paradigma, auxilia-o a explicitá-los. No
decorrer de minha investigação, mapearei e rastrearei as aparições da personagem na obra do
filósofo, contextualizando-a em cada texto em que ela aparece ao mesmo tempo em que a
relacionarei com os dois conceitos aqui perseguidos. Com estes iluminados por aquela, será
possível pensar de maneira mais clara o ser humano como um ser, sobretudo, potencial, e cuja
vida, ao invés de capturada, limitada e regrada por realizações específicas, está sempre
disponível a um novo uso. _______________________________________________________________________________ / ABSTRACT: In this dissertation I will investigate the concepts of potentiality not to (potenza di non) and
inoperative (inoperosità) in the work of the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben, starting,
therefore, of the use of the character Bartleby, the Melville‟s scrivener, did by him, that, as a
paradigm, helps to explain both the concepts. In the course of my research, I will track and
map the quotes of the character in the philosopher‟s work, contextualizing that in every text in
which it appears at the same time that I will link it with the concepts pursued here. With these
enlightened by that, will be possible to think more clearly the human being as a being, above
all, potential, and whose life, instead of captured, limited and regulated by specific
realizations, is always available to a new use.
