Previous issue date: 2015 / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar o funcionamento do ethos da Frente Parlamentar Evangélica (FPE) no momento de sua fundação (2003), por meio do número 1 da sua revista, que foi lançada em 2004, averiguando como ele, o ethos, apresentou-se discursivamente à sociedade brasileira como um todo. Para tanto, este trabalho irá estabelecer uma interface entre a Análise do Discurso, a Retórica e as Ciências da Religião. Neste trabalho, a perspectiva de discurso utilizada por nós baseia-se na retórica sofística de Protágoras e Górgias, assim como os estudos retóricos de Aristóteles, que se constituem como importantes referenciais. Os estudos desses antigos filósofos da linguagem nos ajudarão a apreender uma das três provas retóricas mais estudadas no campo da persuasão: o ethos. Os estudos retóricos contribuem eficazmente tanto para o estudo da imagem construída pela FPE, ou seja, do seu caráter moral construído discursivamente (ou das formas pelas quais ela se mostraria “digna de fé”), quanto das teses e visões de mundo erigidas pelo logos (suas visões políticas da realidade). Para a apreensão do ethos, utilizaremos alguns mecanismos de linguagem, como os dêiticos, os modalizadores e a polifonia, ou seja, elementos que funcionarão como ponto de partida para a apreensão linguístico-discursiva da imagem criada pela FPE. Também nos reportamos e embasamos nossa dissertação nos trabalhos realizados pelos estudiosos das ciências da religião, os quais nos ajudaram a compreender as condições de produção do nosso objeto. Como conclusão, acredito que a imagem encontrada por nós na Revista da Frente foi a de um ethos que se estilhaça em inúmeros pedaços, mas que, no entanto, são fragmentos de uma mesma imagem. Além disso, há uma relativização desses ethos, pois como vimos no referencial teórico, a verdade seria relativa, dependendo de fatores como auditório, valores compartilhados (doxa), momento oportuno (kairós) e o contexto social (nomos) em que o discurso é proferido. _________________________________________________________________ / ABSTRACT : This thesis aims to analyze the functioning of the ethos of the Evangelical Parliamentary Front (EPF) at the time of its foundation (2003), using the number 1 of its magazine, which was launched in 2004, checking how it, the ethos, was introduced discursively to Brazilian society as a whole. Therefore, this work will establish an interface between Discourse Analysis, Rhetoric and Religion Sciences. In this work, the discourse perspective used by us is based on the sophistic rhetoric of Protagoras and Gorgias, as well as the rhetorical studies of Aristotle, that act as important references. Studies of these ancient philosophers of language will help us to apprehend one of the three rhetorical evidences most studied in the field of persuasion: the ethos. The rhetorical studies effectively contribute both to the image study built by EPF, that is, its moral character discursively constructed (or the ways in which it would prove “worthy of faith”), and to the theses and worldviews erected by logos (its political views of reality). For the apprehension of ethos, we will use some language mechanisms such as deictics, the modalizers and the polyphony, i.e., elements that work as a starting point for the linguistic-discursive apprehension of the image created by the EPF. We also reported to and based our thesis upon the work done by scholars of religion studies, which helped us understand the production conditions of our object. In conclusion, I believe the image found by us in front of the magazine has an Ethos that shatters into many pieces, but which, however, are fragments of the same image. In addition, there is a relativity of these ethos, because as we have seen in the theoretical framework, the truth was relative, depending on factors such as auditorium, shared values (doxa), the appropriate time (kairós) and the social context (nomos) in which the speech is delivered.
