Previous issue date: 2016-09-01 / Nesta pesquisa, investigaram-se quais as percepções dos funcionários, professoras e responsáveis, de instituições filantrópicas de atendimento a infância no município de Viçosa - MG. Para esse conhecimento foi preciso entender primeiramente, a história da infância no Brasil, os marcos históricos e legais sobre o tema até chegar ao Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente. Tornou-se necessário ainda entender o que é o terceiro setor, a filantropia, as políticas públicas e os trabalhos sociais realizados em Viçosa - MG. Especificamente, como objetivo principal, essa pesquisa se pautou em identificar qual tem sido a prática das entidades sociais de atendimento as crianças e adolescentes no Município de Viçosa – MG. Buscou inicialmente a caracterização das instituições sociais e filantrópicas do município de Viçosa - MG, em especial as que trabalham em atendimento às crianças das camadas populares que vivem em situação de risco ou vulnerabilidade social; além de identificar as percepções dos funcionários, sendo eles professores, coordenadores e diretores (responsáveis); e compreender qual o papel exercido pelo poder público em relação ao trabalho realizado pelas entidades filantrópicas no município de Viçosa – MG. O campo empírico foi em 4 instituições selecionadas, que atuam no atendimento da primeira infância (0 a 6 anos). A amostra foi constituída por 4 diretores/coordenadores e 12 professores. Os temas pesquisados nos ajudaram a entender que os problemas sociais atualmente existentes, e que afetam crianças pobres, são os mesmos do século XII. São, no entanto, interpretados e analisados de maneira diferente ao longo dos anos, o que proporcionou a busca de meios mais eficazes para combater o descaso com a infância através de políticas públicas, tendo em vista o seu reconhecimento e valorização. / In this study, we investigated the perceptions of employees, teachers and leaders, philanthropic institutions of care for children in Viçosa - MG. For this knowledge was necessary to first understand the history of childhood in Brazil, the historical and legal frameworks on the subject to reach the Statute of Children and Adolescents. It became necessary to further understand what the third sector, philanthropy, public policy and social work carried out in Viçosa - MG. Specifically, the main objective, this research was based on identifying what has been the practice of social service entities of children and adolescents in the city of Viçosa - MG. initially sought to characterize the social and philanthropic institutions of Viçosa - MG, especially those working in service to the children of the lower classes living in risk or socially vulnerable situation; and identify employee perceptions, and they teachers, coordinators and directors (responsible); and understand the role played by the government in relation to the work carried out by charities in Viçosa - MG. The empirical field was 4 selected institutions operating in early childhood care (0-6 years). The sample consisted of 4 directors / coordinators and 12 teachers. The subjects surveyed helped us to understand that the currently existing social problems that affect poor children, are the same as the twelfth century. They are, however, interpreted and analyzed differently over the years, which resulted in the search for more effective ways to combat the indifference to children through public policies, in view of its recognition and appreciation.
