Previous issue date: 2015-02-26 / A pesquisa buscou analisar a gestão do patrimônio cultural universitário e a implantação do Memorial da Engenharia em Pernambuco, exemplar do patrimônio cultural da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, sob a perspectiva da gestão pública, no período de 2006 a 2014. A pergunta central que direcionou o estudo foi: o processo de implantação do Memorial da Engenharia em Pernambuco está pautado em aspectos relevantes para a gestão pública, levando em conta o diálogo com a comunidade universitária e contribuindo para a preservação do patrimônio cultural universitário? A instituição de museus, memoriais e centros culturais, no âmbito da administração pública, é um exercício da gestão pública, especificamente da gestão do patrimônio cultural. Como estamos tratando de um memorial dedicado à engenharia vinculado a uma universidade, a pesquisa busca esclarecer o que seriam memoriais, embora não exista uma definição unânime sobre o assunto, e a importância deste, especificamente, na preservação do patrimônio cultural da universidade. Memoriais seriam espaços que destacam a origem e foco das instituições a que estão relacionados e têm um conceito muito próximo ao de museus. Neste aspecto, o Memorial da Engenharia em Pernambuco pretende funcionar como uma entidade de natureza histórica, educativa, cultural e tecnológica. Do ponto de vista metodológico, utilizamos como princípios norteadores a pesquisa qualitativa, de campo, documental e bibliográfica. Os instrumentais da pesquisa se basearam em entrevistas semiestruturadas com os docentes/gestores envolvidos com o projeto e entrevistas estruturadas com os alunos de engenharia do Centro de Tecnologia e Geociências (mediante o preenchimento de questionários). Os resultados obtidos apontam que, embora o Memorial da Engenharia já exista no plano institucional, ainda está encontrando obstáculos/entraves ao seu pleno funcionamento devido a questões de ordem burocrática e falta de recursos e que a inexistência de um planejamento estratégico é uma lacuna que vem contribuindo neste sentido. Também ficou demonstrado que, significativa parte da comunidade universitária do Centro de Tecnologia e Geociências, onde ficam localizados os cursos de engenharia, não está ciente desta iniciativa e nem foi ouvida nesse processo, haja vista serem os potenciais usufruidores deste equipamento cultural, exemplar do patrimônio cultural universitário. / The research analyzed the management of the university cultural heritage and the implantation of the Memorial of Engineering in Pernambuco, exemplar of the cultural heritage of the Federal University of Pernambuco, from the perspective of public management in the 2006-2014 period. The central question that directed the study was : is the process of implantation of the Memorial of engineering in Pernambuco guided by relevant aspects for the public administration , taking into account the dialogue with the university community and contributing to the preservation of the university cultural heritage? The institution of museums , memorials and cultural centers in the sphere of public administration, is an exercise of public management, specifically the management of the cultural heritage. As we are dealing with a memorial dedicated to the engineering linked to a university, the research seeks to clarify what would be memorials, although there is no unanimous resolution on the subject, and the importance of this, specifically in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the university. Memorials would be spaces that highlight the origin and focus of the institutions to which they are related and have a concept very close to the one of the museums. In this respect, the Memorial of Engineering in Pernambuco intends to function as an entity of historical, educational, cultural and technological nature. From a methodological point of view, we use the qualitative, field, documentary and bibliographical research as guiding principles. The instruments of the research were based on semi-structured interviews with teachers / managers involved with the project as well as structured interviews with the engineering students of the Center for Technology and Geosciences ( by completing questionnaires) . The results suggest that although the Memorial of Engineering already exists at an institutional level, it is still facing obstacles / barriers to its full operation due to bureaucratic issues and the lack of resources; besides, the lack of a strategic plan is a gap that contributes to this effect. It was also demonstrated that a significant part of the university community from the Center of Technology and Geosciences, where engineering courses are located, are not aware of this initiative and were not even heard in this process, given that they are potential users of this cultural facility, exemplar of the university cultural heritage.
