Previous issue date: 2013-02-25 / FAPEAL / Objetivo: Avaliar as condições periodontais em adultos jovens clinicamente saudáveis para determinar as profundidades dos sulcos gengivais, conhecer e comparar os valores médios encontrados nas faces vestibulares e linguais, intra-grupos de dentes, e verificar se existiam diferenças dos valores encontrados em relação ao sexo dos indivíduos. Métodos: A amostra foi constituída por 18 indivíduos com idade variando de 19 a 25 anos, com média de 22 ± 3 anos. As sondagens foram realizadas em 504 dentes, em 6 sítios por dente, representou 3024 sítios examinados. Para participar da pesquisa o voluntário deveria preencher os critérios de inclusão preestabelecidos. Resultados: Verificou-se que ao comparar as profundidades médias dos sulcos gengivais nas faces vestibulares e linguais houve diferenças significativas nos grupos dos incisivos, caninos e molares (p<0,05), o mesmo não sendo observado no grupo dos pré-molares. Em relação ao sexo, observou-se que houve diferença significante para todos os grupos dentários (p<0,05), sendo que o sexo feminino apresentou os valores médios menores. A média dos sulcos gengivais foi crescente dos dentes anteriores para os posteriores em ambos os sexos. Conclusão: Os dentes pré-molares não apresentaram diferenças entre as faces vestibulares e linguais, e o sexo feminino apresentou menores médias de profundidade dos sulcos gengivais. / Objective: To evaluate the periodontal conditions in clinically healthy young adults to determine the depth of the gingival sulcus, know and compare the mean values found in the vestibular and lingual faces, intra-groups of teeth and see if there were differences of the values found in relation to sex of the individuals. Methods: The sample consisted of 18 individuals with age ranging from 19 to 25 years, with a mean of 22 ± 3 years. The surveys were conducted in 504 tooth, in 6 sites per teeth, represented 3024 sites examined. To participate in the survey the volunteer should fulfil the inclusion criteria pre-established. Results: It was found that when comparing average depths of gingival sulcus in the vestibular and lingual sides there were significant differences in the groups of incisors, canines and molars (p < 0.05), the same is not being observed in the group of the premolars. In relation to sex, it was observed that there was a statistically significant difference for all dental groups (p < 0.05), whereas the female has smaller average values. The average of the gingival sulcus was growing of anteriors tooth to the posteriors in both sexes. Conclusion: The premolars showed no differences between the vestibular and lingual faces, and the female has less depth averages of gingival sulcus.
